Extended approval of the AMH Plus test

Dear colleagues,

The Anti-Mullarian-hormone (AMH) is produced by women from the start of puberty by the granulosa cells of the developing follicles in the ovary. As it is only produced by the potentially maturation-able primary and secondary follicles, the serum-AMH-level correlates well with the amount of still present, maturation-able follicles. It is therefore an ideal marker for the evaluation of the functional reserve of the ovary 1. AMH is not subject to cycle-dependent fluctuations and can therefore be tested at any phase of the menstrual cycle2.

AMH can also be used for the evaluation of the reaction rate of ovarian stimulation within fertility- medical treatment.

In our laboratory, AMH analysis as of now is by the new Assay Elecsys AMH Plus by Roche Diagnostics. There are no differences in analytics compared to the previously used Elecsys-AMH test. The only difference is the slightly changed reference values.

Nevertheless, the AMH evaluation (in pmol/L) with the Elecsys AMH Plus test allows an individualized dosage of follitropin delta by Ferring as per recommendation.

Erweiterte Zulassung des AMH-Plus-Tests

Sehr geehrte Kolleginnen und Kollegen,

das Anti-Müller-Hormon (AMH) wird bei der Frau mit Beginn der Pubertät von den Granulosazellen der heranwachsenden Follikel des Ovars gebildet. Da es ausschließlich von den potentiell reifungsfähigen Primär- und Sekundärfollikeln gebildet wird, korreliert der Serum-AMH-Spiegel gut mit der Anzahl noch vorhandener, reifungsfähiger Follikel. Es ist somit ein idealer Marker zur Feststellung der Funktionsreserve des Ovars1. AMH unterliegt keinerlei zyklusabhängigen Schwankungen und kann daher zu jedem Zeitpunkt des Menstruationszyklus untersucht werden2.

AMH kann außerdem für die Beurteilung der Ansprechrate auf eine ovarielle Stimulation im Rahmen einer fertilitätsmedizinischen Behandlung verwendet werden.

In unserem Labor erfolgt die Analyse von AMH ab sofort mit dem neuen Assay Elecsys AMH Plus der Firma Roche Diagnostics. Es bestehen keinerlei Unterschiede zum bisher verwendeten Elecsys-AMH-Test bezüglich der Analytik. Lediglich die Referenzwerte haben sich geringfügig verändert.

Allerdings erlaubt die Messung von AMH (in pmol/L) mit dem Elecsys-AMH-Plus-Test eine individualisierte Dosierung von Follitropin delta der Firma Ferring gemäß den Empfehlungen.
