Detection of occult blood in stool by iFOBT analysis

With the iFOBT analysis (immunological fecal occult blood test), we enable you to test for occult blood in stool. For this, we use the SENTiFIT-System by Sysmex.

The hygienic handling of the samples and the precise measuring technology of the immune-turbidimetric latex determination of human hemoglobin in stool samples make analyses faster and more reliable. Compared to the Guaiac test the sensitivity and specificity is significantly improved. There is no falsification of the result due to food components such as animal blood, vitamin C or medication, hence no specific dietary recommendation to the patient is necessary.

Our iFOB test comes to you in a practical box. This contains information about sample collection, the sample tube and the “patient help for the collection of stool samples” leaflet as well as a little bag for the sample tube. The sample tube has a sticker attached to it. Please inform your patients, that they have to fill in their name, date of birth and date of sample collection. The patient can then discreetly return the filled sample tube in the envelope to your practice. In the practice, the sample tube only needs to be barcoded and then passed on to our laboratory. The sample tube can be stored at 15°C – 30°C for up to 5 days.

For patients on the German statutory medical insurance system this test can be done every two years in the context of a bowel cancer screening from the age of 50. The statutory German medical insurance also covers the iFOBT analysis for patients over 55 every two years as an alternative to colonoscopy.

Analysis is also possible as a private/self-payable (so-called IGeL) request.

Nachweis von okkultem Blut im Stuhl mit der iFOBT-Analytik

Mit der iFOBT-Analytik (immunologischer Faecaler Okkulter Blut-Test) bieten wir Ihnen die Möglichkeit okkultes Blut im Stuhl nachzuweisen. Dazu nutzen wir das SENTiFIT-Systems der Firma Sysmex. Die hygienische Handhabung der Proben sowie die präzise Messtechnologie der immun-turbidimetrischen Latex-Bestimmung von menschlichem Hämoglobin in Stuhlproben ermöglicht eine schnelle und zuverlässige Analytik. Die Sensitivität und Spezifität des Tests ist daher im Vergleich zum Guajak-Test deutlich verbessert. Es gibt keine Verfälschungen der Ergebnisse durch Nahrungsmittelbestandteile wie tierisches Blut, Vitamin C oder Medikamente, wodurch entsprechende diätische Empfehlungen an den Patienten nicht erforderlich sind.

Unser iFOB-Test kommt zu Ihnen in einer praktischen Schachtel. Diese enthält die Informationen zur Probennahme, das Probenröhrchen sowie die »Patientenhilfe für die Entnahme von Stuhlproben« und ein Tütchen für das Probenröhrchen. Das Probenröhrchen ist bereits mit dem Namensaufkleber versehen. Bitte weisen Sie Ihre Patienten darauf hin, dass die Angaben Name, Geburtsdatum und Datum der Probennahme ergänzt werden müssen. Das befüllte Stuhlsammelröhrchen kann dann ganz dezent mit dem Kuvert zur Praxis zurückgebracht werden. In der Praxis muss das Röhrchen nur noch barcodiert und ans Labor weitergeleitet werden. Das Röhrchen kann nach dem Befüllen mit der Stuhlprobe bis zu 5 Tage bei 15°C – 30°C aufbewahrt werden.

Im Rahmen einer jährlichen Darmkrebs-Vorsorgeuntersuchung ab dem 50. Lebensjahr können alle GKV-Patienten eine Stuhlprobe auf okkultes Blut untersuchen lassen. Für Versicherte ab dem 55. Lebensjahr übernimmt die GKV alle 2 Jahre die Kosten der iFOBT-Analytik als Alternative zur Darmspiegelung. Ebenso kann die Analytik als IGeL-Leistung angefordert werden.
