PCR testing
Description | (PCR, polymerase chain reaction) due to the method’s high sensitivity, special precautionary measures for material extraction are to be taken. It is important, that contamination with foreign RNA or DNA, which can lead to false positive results, is avoided. Therefore, a separate test tube (serum or EDTA-blood) is required. Re-opening of this test tube or transferring of material is to be avoided. Heparin blood or plasma is not adequately suited, as heparin can hinder the PCR reaction.
| Additional information | For determination of HIV viral load and HIV resistance evaluation a minimum of 2ml of EDTA plasma are required.
