| Description | Indication: otitis media
- On the request of „pathogenic germs“, aerobic and anaerobic cultures will be prepared. Fungal cultures have to be specifically requested.
- Collect secretion from the eardrum defect with a swab or preferably with a syringe. Insert swab or secretion into tube with screw top and send to laboratory.
- In cases where there is no ear drum defect a swab should be taken from the tubal exit of the nasal pharynx. In this case there is a danger of contamination. Please note type of sample extraction/location on the request form.
