Indication: Drug analysis, metal studies
Material:
- Extract 100-500 mg hair.
- Twirl one, better two pencil thick strands of hair into a thick plait and fixate using a cord. By doing this you ensure the hair stays in position.
- Cut hair directly a scalp.
If only an older section is to be tested and a remainder of hair stays on the head, the length of the remaining hair on the scalp should be stated on the request form.
- Place the hair strand centrally on of a piece of tinfoil (approximate size 27x20 cm).
- Fix cord- not the hair itself- on the tinfoil with cello tape.
- Mark hair ends and hair roots with stickers and note patient’s name and sample date.
Description:
- State the length of hair that you would like tested (length from root).
- Fold tinfoil into a little packet of approximately 13x7 cm.
- Without sealing it, insert the packet with the hair and the request form into an envelope and send to laboratory.

Indication: Suspicion of mycosis
Material:
- Pluck hair remains incl. roots with tweezers and send in fungus test tube.
