Alzheimer’s dementia
Description | There are roughly 1 mio. patients with Alzheimer’s disease in Germany. The familial form (approximately 10 – 15 %) is caused by hereditary mutation of APP- and presenilin-genes, which lead to an increased growth of amyloid beta1-42-protein. This protein has the characteristics of very quick reaction and settling in the brain. In the more common sporadic forms of the Alzheimer’s disease there are, in many cases, genetic risk factors, such as the apolipoprotein-E-risk allele (Apo-E4/4). Laboratory evaluations: Molecular-genetic: Genotyping of apolipoprotein-E Immuno hematologic evaluation: HLA-B7 and HLA-Cw3 (RR:28) Liquor: Evidence of decreased amyloid beta1-42-protein- and increased tau-protein-concentration. |
