Caeruloplasmin (α2-)
Material: | 1 ml serum (stability in serum at 4-8 °C: 14 days) |
Methods: | Spektrometrie → Nephelometrie | Reference range | Adults: 20-60 mg/dl |
Indication | Suspicion for Morbus Wilson |
Please note | Significantly lowered caeruloplasmin concentrations are found in the context of Morbus Wilson or Menkes disease, also during nephrotic syndrome or liver malfunction. Elevated concentrations can be found during acute phase reactions, pregnancy and hormonal contraception (Cave: risk of “false-normal” values!). |
