| Please note | Most poliovirus infections remain completely asymptomatic (90-95 % ofthe cases). Most of the symptomatic cases remain mild with cold-like symptoms ("summer flu") and without paralysis. In just 1 % of the infected persons a neurological manifestation appears and only 0,1 % develop peripheral paralysis. Currently, a rsik for infection only exists in africa and south asia, esp. india. |
