Material: | Cervical or urethral swab (thick or thin). After cutting the stick the swab is put into a special tube for Chlamydia, HPV, Herpex simplex PCR (see order form of specimen containers). Alternatively a dry swab in a sterile tube can be sent in. Also possible: 0,5 ml ejaculate, 2 ml urine, histological section. Swabs in transport medium for bacteria are not suitable! | Reference range | PCR: negative |
Indication | Suspicion for papillomavirus infection (condylomata acuminata), differential diagnosis of cervical cancer (unclear or pathologic cytology). |
