| Please note | Blastocystis hominis is often found in the normal stool (approximately 20 % of patients with a healthy intestinal flora). There is major uncertainty as to the pathogenicity of blastocystis hominis. Accordingly, other infectious causes should be ruled out in case of diarrhea. The detection of B. hominis is of special importance in immunocompromised patients. |
