Estriol, free
(E3)
Material: | 1 ml serum (stability in serum at 4°C – 8°C: 2 days) Please state week of pregnancy. | Reference range | Depending on the week of pregnancy, please refer to findings report. |
Indication | Estriol evaluation’s only purpose is to test sufficient suppression of the adrenal cortex of the child in utero, when the mother with genetic changes in favor of the adrenogenital syndrome is receiving dexamethasone for prophylactic or therapeutic reasons, when an AGS defect of the father is not certain or an AGS has been detected in the child in utero. Estriol has become less important for the assessment of the fetoplacental function. It has also become obsolete for the assessment of fetal Down syndrome in combination with AFP and beta-HCG (triple diagnostics). This was nearly completely replaced by the first trimester screening and NIPTs (PraenaTest). |
Please note | This test is not paid for by the German medical insurances. |
