Nortilidine
Material: | 1 ml serum | Reference range | < 200 µg/l |
Indication | Therapeutic drug monitoring, confirmation of drug abuse, compliance control and abstinence checks |
Therapeutic range | please refer to findings report |
Please note | Tilidine is tested concomitantly. Tilidine or its active metabolite nortilidine is an opioid analgesic with in comparison low analgesic potency (approximately 0,2 fold effect compared to morphine). It is converted in the liver into nortilidine, which in the circulation has a half-life of 3 – 5 hours. In case of liver insufficiency, the analgesic effect may be impaired. The side effect spectrum is typical of opiates/opioids. As with all representatives of this substance class, habituation and dependency can develop. As a preventative measure, tilidine in Germany is only given in combination with the opioid receptor antagonist naloxone. CAUTION: Opioid dependent patients may suffer acute withdrawal syndrome when taking such agent! |
