Please note | Morphine is the main alkaloid of opium and a strong analgesic. It works by stimulation of the central opioid receptors. Apart from its analgesic effect, it also has antitussive and sedative effects. The side effect spectrum is typical of opiates/opioids (especially respiratory depression when overdosed, pruritus when given intravenously, nausea, vomiting, micturition problems. Caution: Strong addiction potential!) |
