Coccidioidomycosis
(Coccidioides immitis, Coccidioides posadasii)
Material: | Antibody demonstration: 1 ml serum PCR: EDTA-blood, sputum, BAL, puncture/biopsy specimen Pathogen demonstration, only after previous telephone consultation: BAL, sputum, puncture/biopsy specimen for cultural demonstration |
Methods: |
Ligandenassays → Immunoblot Kulturelle Untersuchungen → aerober Atmosphäre Amplifikationsverfahren → Real-time-PCR | Reference range | Immunoblot: please refer to findings report PCR: negative |
Indication | Suspicion of imported systemic mycosis |
Please note | The pathogen is predominantly found in dry and semi-arid areas of the western hemisphere (USA, Canada)
According to technical regulations for biological agents 460 (TRBA 460) these are pathogens of risk group 3, meaning that there is a high degree of risk for laboratory staff when cultivating it (pathogen demonstration). Please contact us by telephone prior to requesting it.
