| Please note | After intravascular hemolysis, the haptoglobin concentration falls rapidly, as the half-life of the haptoglobin-hemoglobin complex is only 8 min. Elevated serum concentrations are mainly due to the haptoglobin acute-phase reaction and are seen in systemic inflammations. |
