Hair analysis for metals
(Arsenic, lead, cadmium, copper, mercury, palladium, zinc and others)
Material: | 100 mg – 500 mg hair. Finger-thick strand of hair, at least 3 cm long. Lift the top hair and secure it to the top of the head, then cut a piece of the underlying hair. Stick the hair to paper using cello tape and mark the root end. |
Methods: | Spektrometrie → Atomabsorptionsspektroskopie (AAS) | Reference range | please refer to findings report |
Indication | Heavy metal exposure (controversial, see below) |
Please note | Testing of hair for the evaluation of individual heavy metal exposure is controversially discussed, as a differentiation between internal and external origin can be difficult. The significance varies, depending on the type of heavy metal concerned. |
