GPT
(ALAT)
Material: | 1 ml serum, hemolysis free (Stability of the sample at 4°C – 8°C: 7 days) |
Methods: | Spektrometrie → UV- / VIS-Photometrie | Reference range | Men: < 50 U/l Women: < 35 U/l Children: please refer to findings report |
Indication | Diseases of the liver and bile ducts |
Please note | GPT is a ubiquitous enzyme, mainly present in the liver cells; it is only present in the cytoplasm. Physiologically, it is slightly elevated during pregnancy. Only minor GPT-increases, which are not caused by the liver, are generally due to skeletal muscle diseases, myocardial infarction or acute pancreatitis. CAUTION: The enzyme activity in the erythrocytes is 7x higher than the one in serum, hence it is important to ensure hemolysis free sampling. |
