Glucagon
Material: | At least 1 ml frozen EDTA-plasma
Procedure: Take 4 ml EDTA-blood with an EDTA monovette tube, mix carefully and transfer into a glass tube with Trasylol at once, which can be requested through us (the same tube is also suitable for the evaluation of VIP and ANP). Again, mix gently. Following centrifugation, the EDTA-plasma is to be frozen in a second glass tube and sent in a freezing container, which has been kept at -4°C to -20°C. The tube has to be labelled with the comment “taken with Trasylol-tube”. |
Methods: | Ligandenassays → Radioimmunoassay (RIA) | Reference range | < 209 pg/ml |
Indication | Suspicion of glucagonoma (very rare) |
Please note | False-Increased values in case of acute pancreatitis, stress, type 1 diabetes mellitus and acromegaly |
