FSH
(Follicle stimulating hormone, follitropin)
Material: | 1 ml serum (Stability in serum at 4°C – 8°C: 14 days) |
Methods: | Ligandenassays → Chemilumineszenz-Immunoassay (CLIA) | Reference range | Women: Follicle phase: 2 IU/l – 10 IU/l Luteal phase: 2 IU/l – 8 IU/l Pregnant women: Please refer to findings report
Men: 1,0 IU/l – 12,0 IU/l
Children: Please refer to findings report |
Indication | Clarification of hypogonadism in both women and men |
Please note | A reliable evaluation is only possible with contemporaneous estrogen or testosterone determination. In case of primary ovarian insufficiency, the FSH-levels and LH-levels are elevated. In the perimenopause, a slightly increased FSH-value in the early follicle phase indicates a beginning ovarial insufficiency. When taking ovulation inhibitors or GnRH-analogs, FSH and LH are markedly decreased, the same applies when taking gestagen depot preparations. Contemporaneous determination of testosterone and gonadotropins in men can differentiate between primary (testicular) and secondary (hypophyseal/hypothalamic) disorders. |
