Fructosamine
Material: | 1 ml serum (Stability in serum at 4°C – 8°C: 14 days) |
Methods: | Spektrometrie → UV- / VIS-Photometrie | Reference range | Healthy persons: < 285 µmol/l
Diabetics: Adequate blood sugar adjustment: 285 µmol/l – 320 µmol/l Moderate blood sugar adjustment: 320 µmol/l – 370 µmol/l Insufficient blood sugar adjustment: > 370 µmol/l |
Indication | The evaluation of fructosamine is mainly obsolete. It can still be indicated, if abnormal hemoglobin fractions, hemolysis, kidney- and/or liver insufficiency, anemia or pregnancy restrict the evaluation of HbA1c. |
Please note | Fructosamines are non-enzymatic glycated plasma proteins; their concentration reflects the blood sugar levels of the previous 8 – 10 days. Around 70 % of fructosamines are made of glycated albumin and approximately 15 % of glycated immunoglobulines. The meaning of evaluation is limited in case of disorders in the blood protein composition, hyperproteinemia and hypoproteinemia, renal or enteral protein loss, paraproteinemia or acute-phase-reactions. |
