Folic acid in erythrocytes
Material: | 2 ml EDTA-blood |
Methods: | Ligandenassays → Chemilumineszenz-Immunoassay (CLIA) | Reference range | 126 µg/l – 651 µg/l erythrocytes |
Indication | Please refer to folic acid in serum. The concentration in erythrocytes is markedly higher than that in serum, it shows less food-related fluctuations and is a better indicator of folic acid concentration in the organs. Decreased erythrocytic levels in normal serum values are indicative of vitamin B12-deficiency. |
