Indication | Differential diagnosis hemorrhagic fever, symptoms following return from pandemic areas | Mandatory reporting | ja The laboratory is obliged to report indirect or direct demonstration to the health authorities stating the patient name. Suspicion of virus-related hemorrhagic fever as well as disease outbreak and death have to be reported by the treating physician. |
Please note | Human-to-human transmission by excretions, percutaneously, aerogenic? Incubation time 2 – 21 days. Letality up to 90 %. Initially fever, headaches, joint- and muscle aches, diarrhea, vomiting, later bleeding. After 5 – 7 days maculopapular exanthema. Please do not send any samples with suspicion of Ebola to our laboratory! In any case, telephone consultation is of utmost importance!
