CRP
(C-reactive protein)
Material: | 1 ml serum (stability in serum at 4°C – 8°C: 8 days) |
Methods: | Spektrometrie → Immunturbidimetrie | Reference range | < 6,0 mg/l Pregnant women: < 12,0 mg/l |
Indication | Screening and monitoring of inflammatory processes. Therapy checks. Prognosis for bacterial diseases, myocardial infarction and tumors. |
Please note | Values between 10 and 50 mg/l: Mild inflammation Values > 50 g/l: Severe inflammation. CRP with a half-life of 13 – 16 hours and with an increase of the synthesis rate up to 2000x within 4 – 6 hours after inflammatory, mainly bacterial stimulus is a very good indicator of acute inflammatory activity in illnesses such as rheumatoid illnesses and postoperative newborn septicemia. In case of chronic inflammation and viral infection, the increase may be relatively mild, in other illnesses such as SLE, ulcerative colitis it may even be absent. In many autoimmune disorders, CRP is not at all elevated or only minimally elevated. Oral contraceptives and estrogens can lead to a slight CRP-increase. |
