Cholinesterase
(CHE)
Material: | 1 ml serum (stability in serum at 4° – 8°C: 7 days) |
Methods: | Spektrometrie → UV- / VIS-Photometrie | Reference range | Men: 4620 – 11500 U/l Women: 3930 – 10800 U/l |
Indication | Suspicion of decreased synthesis capacity of the liver. CHE is not suitable as search reaction in preoperative evaluation of anesthetic risk prior to administering muscle relaxants of the succinylcholine type. |
Please note | Cholinesterase activity seen in serum is attributed nearly exclusively to pseudo-cholinesterase. Hemolysis may lead to increased CHE-levels, as there are high CHE-concentrations in the erythrocytes. CHE shows a large individual fluctuation range in minor intraindividual fluctuations. |
