CCP antibodies
(Anti-citrulline-antibodies)
Material: | 1 ml serum |
Methods: | Ligandenassays → Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) | Reference range | < 5 RE/ml |
Indication | Diagnostics of rheumatoid arthritis (PCP = primary chronic polyarthritis) especially in the early stadium of disease, diagnostics of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, differential diagnosis of arthritis (post infectious arthritis, sarcoidosis, SLE, Sjögren-syndrome, psoriasis-arthritis and others), also prognosis markers of severe courses of rheumatoid arthritis. |
Please note | Demonstration of anti-CCP-antibodies (antibodies against cyclic citrullinated peptides) is established in laboratory diagnostics of rheumatoid arthritis with a high sensitivity (80 - 87 %) and especially high specificity (approximately 95 %). Combined with the rheumatoid factor, there is even a specificity of nearly 100 %. Especially in the early stadium of rheumatoid arthritis, in which the ACR-criteria (American College of Rheumatology) do not apply, the demonstration of anti-CCP-antibodies is pointing the way. This is of particular importance in view of the requirement to initiate aggressive treatment as early as possible. |
