Bronchial lavage / Bronchoalveolar lavage
Material: | Microbiological tests: 5 – 10 ml Tests for bacterial pathogens including mycobacteria, legionella, fungus, pneumocystis jiroveci / carinii (external service, also for PCR) and cytology. Differential cytology and differentiation of lymphocyte subpopulation: 50 – 100 ml of bronchoalveolar fluid in several (2 – 4) sample tubes with conical bottom (sputum tubes). The samples have to be cooled and sent in a cool box at 4° C. A polystyrene transport box, cool packs and sample tubes with conical bottom will be issued on request. Sample transport by courier. Temperature of 4° C will be maintained with a previously frozen cool pack. | Reference range | Please refer to findings report |
Indication | Microbiological tests: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, atypical mycobacteria, mycoplasma pneumonia, legionella, viral infections (HSV, CMV etc.), chlamydia pneumonia, pneumocystis jiroveci (carinii), aspergillosis, candidiasis. Differential cytology and differentiation of lymphocyte subpopulation: Sarcoidosis, exogenous allergic alveolitis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, asbestosis, eosinophilic pneumonia, BOOP |
Please note | Prior telephone registration would be appreciated to ensure immediate testing commencement after material arrival. |
