| Please note | Two new markers in the CSF are discussed to be indicators for Alzheimer’s disease. One is amyloid beta 1-42 protein, which is decreased in the CSF, and the Tau-protein, which is increased in the CSF in the early, pre-dementia stage of the disease. In a new study, the combined evaluation of both markers showed a sensitivity of 85 % and a specificity for the differentiation towards non-Alzheimer’s dementias of 58 %. Increased concentrations of Tau-protein in the CFS are also seen in case of inflammatory processes and other neurodegenerative diseases. |
