Amisulpride
Material: | 1 ml serum |
Indication | Therapeutic drug monitoring |
Therapeutic range | 100 – 320 µg/l > 640 µg/l toxic |
Please note | If dosages of more than 800 mg/d amisulpride are administered, higher serum concentrations are found. Amisulpride is an “atypical” neuroleptic for the treatment of psychosis and works via an antagonism at the dopamine receptors in the CNS. Due to this, it has a sedative and antipsychotic response, whereby a higher sedative effect is combined with a lower antipsychotic effect and vice versa. Extrapyramidal symptoms as an unwanted side effect are markedly less common in well-adjusted dosages compared to older, “typical” neuroleptics. Further potential side effects are sleepiness, vertigo, reduced libido, weight gain, gastrointestinal symptoms and hypotension. |
