Lupus coagulant activity
Material: | 3 ml citrate blood (1:10), if transport time is < 4 hours | Reference range | Lupus sensitive PTT 25 sec – 31 sec |
Indication |
Other indications: Fetal death, fetal development disorder, preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, SLE and other collagenosis, pulmonary hypertension, livedo reticularis, Sneddon syndrome, migraine (menstruation related), deafness or acute hearing loss, Raynaud syndrome, Behçet’s disease |
Comment | In addition to the demonstration of lupus anticoagulant, testing of phospholipid antibodies (Cardiolipin antibodies IgG and IgM, and beta2 glycoprotein antibodies IgG and IgM) should always be carried out. For diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome in line with the Sydney criteria, at least one clinical and one laboratory criterion must be met: Clinical criteria: Laboratory criteria: Supplement to the laboratory criteria: The laboratory criteria must not be regarded positive, until they have been confirmed in a control test 6 – 12 weeks later. |
Please note | According to the criteria of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) - SCC: Lupus anticoagulant/antiphospholipid antibodies, 2 different clotting tests have to be carried out for the demonstration of lupus anticoagulant. Furthermore, the dependence of phospholipids in the test system has to be demonstrated. We therefore proceed as follows: 1st test: Lupus sensitive PTT (with low phospholipid concentration) 2nd test: DRVVT Screen (with low phospholipid concentration) 3rd test: DRVVT Confirm (with high phospholipid concentration) Evaluation is by calculation of the DRVVT ratio (DRVVT screen/DRVVT confirm). |
