Dubin-Johnson syndrome
Description | Manifestation often in adolescent age or early adulthood. Oral contraceptives or pregnancy may trigger slight hyperbilirubinemia (2-5 mg/dl). Possible clinical symptoms: Pain or feeling of pressure in the epigastric region, tiredness, lack of appetite. The conjugated bilirubin (direct bilirubin) has a share of 50 %. Missing bilirubin-increase after Phenobarbital-intake is characteristic. It is also typical, that bromsulphalein is not detectable 45 min after administration of that substance (as i.v. bolus-injection), but is re-detectable after 90 min. Porphyrin-evaluation in the 24-hour urine: With normal coproporphyrins an increase of coproporphyrin 1 is detectable (III/I < 0,5; in healthy people: III/I: 3-4). |
