Von-Willebrand syndrome
Description | Please note: In only 60 % of all cases of von-Willebrand’s the PTT is prolonged. Therefore, a von-Willebrand diagnostic is to be arranged on clinical suspicion of tendency of bleeding. In vivo test: Bleeding time Citrate plasma: PTT, factor VIII (activity and antigen), if necessary factor IX, ristocetin cofactor, von-Willebrand antigen Differential diagnosis:
The von-Willebrand factor and relevant PTT, factor VIII and ristocetin cofactor show timely fluctuations. Due to this, the diagnosis cannot be confirmed or safely ruled out with one single evaluation. For securing of diagnosis, repeated evaluations are required. For the classification of the type of von-Willebrand syndrome, which is required for determining therapy, an analysis of the von-Willebrand factor multimers should be carried out. |
