Thrombocytopenia in pregnancy
Description | Two types:
Clinical presentation: Asymptomatic thrombocytopenia towards the end of pregnancy with a prevalence of approximately 5 %. Platelet count often between 130.000 and 150.000/µl but generally above 70.000/µl. No known cause. Children don not show neonatal thrombocytopenia. Differential diagnosis: Werlhof-disease (ITP). It is recommended to evaluate cardiolipin antibodies and lupus anticoagulant.
