SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19)
(Corona virus)
Material: | Antibody detection: PCR: |
Methods: |
Ligandenassays → Elektrochemilumineszenz-Immunoassay (ECLIA) Ligandenassays → Enzymimmunoassay (EIA) Amplifikationsverfahren → Real-time-PCR | Criteria for evaluation | PCR: NCP-IgG/IgM: S1-IgG: |
Indication | Acute respiratory symptoms, signs of viral pneumonia, previous contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient, determination of immune status after vaccination. | Mandatory reporting | ja Direct detection of pathogen is reported to DEMIS, stating the patient’s name |
Please note | SARS-CoV-2 is mainly transmitted by droplet infection, incubation period is 3 days – 7 days, max. 14 days. Courses of illness vary significantly; symptomless courses up to very serious courses with lung failure and death are recorded. The most common symptoms are fever and cough. The diagnostic procedure of choice is the molecular biological direct demonstration by PCR from swab material. A positive antibody demonstration can be expected no earlier than 7 days after onset of symptoms. Quantification of Corona-S1IgG antibodies is in line with the WHO standards and should give an indication about immune protection. |
