Methadon
Material: | 10 ml urine, 2 ml serum (Stability in serum at 4°C – 8°C: 3 days), 100 g hair, saliva (Saliva collector available upon request), any other suspicious sample material, 10 ml gastric juice |
Methods: |
Ligandenassays → Enzym-Multiplied-Immunoassay (EMIT) Flüssigkeitschromatographie-Massenspektrometrie (LC-MS/MS) → LC-Tandem-Massenspektrometrie Ligandenassays → Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) | Reference range | Serum: < 50 µg/l |
Indication | Substance abuse, substitution therapy, therapeutic drug monitoring |
Therapeutic range | Serum: 50 – 500 µg/l |
Please note | The determination of EDDP (Methadone metabolite) is by GC or LC-MS. There is no clear relationship between dose and serum concentration. Methadone is an opioid analgesic (analgesic potency is 2 – 4 times that of morphine). It is mainly used in the substitution therapy of opiate addicts. The side effect spectrum is typical of opiates/opioids. |
