Melatonin
Material: | 1 ml serum, frozen | Reference range | Daytime: 8 – 20 ng/l Nighttime: < 150 ng/l |
Indication | Sleep disorders, jetlag, chronic fatigue syndrome |
Please note | Melatonin is produced in the pineal gland. It plays an important part in the regulation of circadian rhythms and influences the sleep-wake biorhythm. Throughout the day, melatonin concentration in the blood is very low, mostly even below the detection limits. The highest blood levels are seen between 1 and 3 in the night. |
