| Please note | Maprotiline is a tetracyclic antidepressant and primarily inhibits the re-uptake of noradrenalin. Additionally, is has antihistaminergic and alpha-1 antagonistic effects. In addition to its emotionally lifting effect, it has a sedative effect, dampening effect on psychomotor functions and anxiolytic effects. The side effect spectrum is similar to the one of tricyclic antidepressants (especially sleepiness, hypotension, dry mouth etc.) |
