Free aldosterone in urine
Material: | 25 ml of 24-hour urine Please store the urine cool during time of collection, then send to the laboratory immediately. Before taking 25 ml off, please mix the collected urine thoroughly. Please state total urine quantity! |
Methods: | Ligandenassays → Chemilumineszenz-Immunoassay (CLIA) | Reference range | normal diet: 6 µg/24 hrs – 25 µg/24 hrs |
Indication | Please refer to aldosterone in serum. With determination in the urine, you get an integrated aldosterone secretion value, which is not influenced by short-term secretion fluctuations, i.e. orthostasis. As free aldosterone in the urine only comes to 0,2 % of the total of aldosterone excreted by urine, we recommend determination of tetrahydroaldosterone-3-glucuronide or aldosterone-18-glucuronide, as these are the more sensitive methods. |
