Fibrinogen
(modified Clauss method)
Material: | 1 ml citrate plasma (Stability in citrate plasma at 4°C – 8°C: 7 days) |
Methods: | Koagulometrie → Koagulometrie | Reference range | 2,0 g/l – 4,0 g/l |
Indication | Preoperative screening, congenital or acquired fibrinogen deficiency, consumption coagulopathy, liver synthesis dysfunction, clarification of bleeding tendency, evaluation of low Quick’s value and/or an increased PTT, suspicion of dysfibrinogenemia |
Please note | Congenital fibrinogen deficiency is rare, more often there are dysfibrinogenemias with only decreased fibrinogen activity. Fibrinogen is an acute phase protein and can be markedly increased in case of systemic inflammation. Due to this, a relative fibrinogen deficiency may be disguised. A persistently increased fibrinogen value without signs of inflammation is seen as a risk factor for acute coronary syndrome, stroke and venous thromboembolism. |
