ENA-autoantibodies
(Extractable nuclear antigens)
Material: | 1 ml serum | ||||||||||||||||||||
Methods: |
Ligandenassays → Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) Ligandenassays → Immunoblot | Reference range | negative
Indication | Diseases from the rheumatoid spectrum or differentiation of autoimmune disorders
Please note | Antibodies against ENA (extractable nuclear antigens) is a historic term. Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) cover antibodies against extractable as well as non-extractable nuclear antigens. In addition to this, when testing for ENA, antibodies against cytoplasmic antigens are also demonstrated. With a screening test (EIA) antibodies against the following nuclear antigens are captured: RNP/Sm, Sm, SS-A (Ro), SS-B (La), Scl-70, Jo-1. Depending on the clinical question or depending on the result of the ENA-screening test, there will be a further differentiation by immunoblot, which detects antibodies against individual antigens. Please refer to the following table for associations of individual ENA-antigens with illnesses. ENA-specificity and associations with illnesses
