Collect 2 x 2 ml EDTA blood for solvent screening (see below) and transfer each into a special tube for organic solvents (brown vial with black screw top). Samples should be taken after shift or after exposure or after several shifts in case of long-term exposure.

Acetone:
4 ml EDTA blood
4 ml serum
10 ml urine
Benzene, dichloromethane, ethylbenzene, tetrachloroethylene, tetrachloromethane, toluene in blood, 1,1,1-trichlorethanol, trichloroethylene as trichlorethanol

Xylenes in blood:
2 ml EDTA blood, hippuric acid, mandelic acid, methyl hippuric acid, trichloroethylene as trichloroacetic acid

Phenol:
10 ml urine

Dichloromethane as CO-Hb:
2 ml EDTA blood
Fill tubes as much as possible

Methanol, styrene as mandelic acid:
2 ml EDTA blood
10 ml urine

Solvent screening in the blood captures the following substances: Acetone, benzene, butanol (both isoforms), i-chloroform, dichloromethane, ethanol, ethylbenzene, isobutyl alcohol, methanol, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl isobutyl ketone, propanol (both isoforms), styrene, tetrahydrofuran, tetrachloroethylene (PER), tetrachloromethane, toluene, 1,1,1-trichlorethanol, trichloroethylene (TRI), xylene
